Overview

The most interesting thing about Truth Social in 2026 is that it’s barely a social network story anymore — it’s a balance-sheet story. Donald Trump’s platform, launched on iOS in April 2022 and the web that May, is the flagship of Trump Media & Technology Group, a Nasdaq-listed company (ticker DJT) that in one year and a half grew its financial assets from $274 million at its March 2024 public debut to $3.1 billion by September 30, 2025 (ADVFN). The engine wasn’t advertising — ads are the “substantial majority” of operating revenue, but revenue was $1.7 million in the second quarter of 2026 against an adjusted loss of $238.1 million (Barron’s; Investopedia). The engine was Bitcoin.

The crypto pivot

TMTG accumulated about $2 billion worth of Bitcoin in July 2025 and held 9,477 coins with a fair value of $557.1 million at the end of June 2026 (Barron’s). When Bitcoin slumped 46% over twelve months, “the vast bulk” of the company’s $238.1 million Q2 2026 adjusted loss came from unrealized losses on digital assets (Barron’s). The company monetizes the strategy actively too: in Q3 2025 it generated $15.3 million of realized income from premiums on bitcoin-related options, plus $13.4 million in interest income from other holdings (ADVFN).

Alongside the treasury sits an expanding ecosystem. A partnership with Crypto.com brought the CRO token onto the platform — Trump Media bought about 684.4 million CRO for $50 million in cash plus $47 million in stock, took a minority interest in a CRO treasury company, and made CRO the rewards currency for Truth Social and Truth+ users (ADVFN). The platform itself added AI search powered by Perplexity, paid Truth+ Patriot Package subscriptions (edit posts, schedule posts, access drafts across devices), and Truth Predict, billed as the first prediction-markets integration on a social platform (ADVFN). The most on-brand product is the Truth API: traders pay for instant access to Trump’s posts, with more than 10 customers signed up (Barron’s).

The platform as presidential instrument

Truth Social remains Trump’s own megaphone: he has posted as @realDonaldTrump since his January 20, 2025 inauguration (Investopedia). On September 18, 2026, that megaphone became the instrument of a press ban — Trump posted that CNN, MS NOW, and Politico were banned from the White House “effective immediately” for alleged “FAKE NEWS,” warning other outlets could follow (Al Jazeera). Days later, U.S. District Judge Timothy Kelly — a Trump first-term appointee — ordered access restored, finding the ban likely violated due-process and First Amendment rights (Livemint).

What this profile does not claim

This profile does not report a user count, because TMTG says it does not track — and may never track — signups, active users, or ad impressions, so no verified audience figure exists. It does not treat the December 2025 TAE Technologies merger as complete; it was announced as an all-stock $6 billion deal expected to close later. It does not claim the FY2025 full-year results, which could not be fetched in full — Q3 2025 and Q2 2026 figures are the pinned reporting. It does not restate Trump’s broader Truth Social attacks on Judge Kelly from a source that could not be read in full (a PEOPLE article that returned an access error). And it presents the company’s promotional claims — “uncancellable infrastructure,” “crown jewel assets” — only as claims it does not endorse.
