About FactsLedger

FactsLedger publishes source-backed profiles of real-world entities: schools, universities, people, organizations, places and species. Each profile gathers what the public record actually contains about a subject — government records, awarding-body documentation, press reporting and the subject's own statements — and attributes every claim to the source it came from.

Why the site exists

Information about many real-world entities is fragmented. A school's award sits in a PDF on one site, its government registration in a spreadsheet on another, and its public activity in a decade of local newspaper archives. Nobody has assembled it, so a reader searching the entity's name finds directory listings that reproduce each other's unverified data.

A profile here does that assembly, and shows its working. That means saying plainly which claims rest on independent reporting, which come from the subject itself, and which could not be verified at all.

What we do not do

• We do not copy content from encyclopedias or reproduce deleted articles from elsewhere.
• We do not publish claims we could not trace to a source we have read.
• We do not accept payment to create, alter, favourably frame or remove a profile.
• We do not describe a subject as "best", "top" or "leading" without independent evidence.
